Before incorporating AI into my teaching practice, I relied on the VOKI website, which allowed me to create personalized speaking avatars to engage my students in a unique and interactive way. These avatars became a central part of my lessons—they could summarize complex topics, provide clear instructions, ask thought-provoking questions, and even simulate classroom discussions. By bringing a virtual character into the learning environment, students were more attentive and motivated, as it introduced an element of fun, novelty, and interactivity that traditional teaching methods sometimes lacked. I noticed that students were not only more engaged but also retained information better, participated actively, and felt a stronger connection to the content being taught.

Nowadays, I have shifted to using AI programs like Vindoz AI - My Creations, which take this approach even further. These advanced tools allow me to customize lessons, create dynamic content, and provide a more personalized learning experience tailored to the needs and abilities of each student. AI-driven avatars and content help me address different learning styles, reinforce concepts through interactive feedback, and make abstract topics more tangible and understandable. The use of AI has transformed my classroom into an innovative, student-centered learning space, where engagement, motivation, and understanding are significantly enhanced. By integrating these technologies, I can foster creativity, critical thinking, and curiosity, ensuring that my students are not only learning but enjoying the process every step of the way.

Welcome to my channel, Mrs. Biology!

I created this channel to share my passion for biology and help students succeed, whether it’s AP Biology, high school biology topics, or preparing for the British Cambridge and American curricula. I aim to reach different levels of students, covering a wide range of topics to enhance their learning and tailor content according to my teaching expertise and experience. This was the first channel in the UAE focused on EmSAT Biology, and I continue to expand it with dedication and passion, supporting students from all backgrounds who want to deepen their understanding of life sciences. By integrating these tools, I can create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment that supports all my students in reaching their full potential.

In my teaching, I use the flipped classroom strategy to create a more engaging and effective learning experience for my students. By reversing the traditional model, students first explore new content at their own pace through videos, reading materials, or interactive activities outside of class. This allows class time to be dedicated to deeper learning, where students actively engage in discussions, problem-solving tasks, and hands-on activities. The flipped classroom approach not only makes lessons more interesting by giving students ownership over their learning, but it also provides more opportunities for personalized support. This way, students are able to better understand the material, as they can revisit content at any time, and we can focus on applying their knowledge through collaborative and interactive activities.

In my biology class, I use augmented reality (AR) to make learning more fun and engaging. With AR, students can see 3D models of things like cells, organs, and tiny organisms right in front of them. They can explore and interact with these models, which helps them understand difficult topics better. The technology makes lessons more exciting and helps students learn faster because they can see things in a way that books can't show. My students really enjoy using AR, and it helps them remember what they learn more easily.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I kept my distance learning lessons creative by using various strategies like interactive activities, videos, and online quizzes. As shown in the Distance Learning Lesson video, I used these tools to engage students and help them understand the material, making sure they could learn effectively from home.

In the biology lab, I focus on being a facilitator, allowing my students to take the lead in their learning. By visiting various healthcare facilities, they were able to connect their lessons to practical, real-world applications, such as understanding disease prevention, treatment methods, and the role of medical professionals. This hands-on experience made biology more relevant and exciting for my students, helping them see the importance of their studies in the field of health and medicine.

I use formative assessments, including the traditional paper-based test, to track my students' progress and adjust my teaching as needed. These assessments help me give quick feedback so I can see what students understand and where they might need more help. With tools like Nearpod, I use polls to get instant feedback on how well my students are doing. I also use platforms like Quizizz, Quizlet, Kahoot, and Socrative. By incorporating both digital tools and paper-based assessments, I ensure a balanced approach to evaluating learning. Using formative assessments regularly allows me to tailor my teaching to meet my students' needs effectively.

Also, I use homework and classwork to track their ongoing progress and identify areas where they need support. To make learning more engaging, I also incorporate games like Tarsia puzzles, where students piece together biological terms or concepts, promoting collaboration and reinforcing their understanding in a fun and interactive way. By integrating these diverse methods, I can evaluate my students' learning holistically and provide constructive feedback to help them grow.

As a biology teacher, I prioritize designing clear, comprehensive summative assessments that thoroughly evaluate students’ understanding at the end of each term and year. These assessments cover all the material taught, providing students with a fair opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills. My goal is to offer a well-rounded evaluation that reflects the learning objectives and challenges students to think critically.In addition to teaching, my experience as an assessment lead at ATS has enhanced my ability to create high-quality exams. I have developed summative assessments for biology across 13 campuses in the UAE, aligning exams with the curriculum, maintaining consistency, and addressing students' varying abilities. This role has deepened my understanding of assessment strategies and strengthened my ability to create exams that reflect student learning outcomes.

Improving my teaching strategies is a continuous and dynamic process that starts with analyzing student assessments and feedback. After reviewing these results, I identify patterns in areas where students may have struggled, allowing me to refine my approach. For example, I might adjust the pace of lessons, incorporate more hands-on activities, or use different instructional methods to accommodate diverse learning styles. In addition, I am actively engaged in peer observations to learn new teaching strategies, and I organize SAPET (Extra Sessions on Sundays) to reteach concepts and provide revision for my students. I regularly seek feedback from my students, colleagues, and self-reflect on my own practices to ensure I am staying responsive to my students' needs. Whether it's through differentiated instruction, active learning techniques, or collaborative projects, I strive to create a supportive and adaptive learning environment that fosters engagement, critical thinking, and overall student success.
